The KH 870 is an answer to the demands by offering a 7.1 High Definition Bass Manager. The flexibility of this bypassable 7.1 bass manager means it is also compatible with all standard consumer formats from mono through to the latest 7.1 HD systems.

Eight channels of analog ensures flexible interconnectivity for modern studios. Four-mode LFE-channel processing guarantees compatibility across all formats and industries. Forth-order crossovers and flexible acoustical controls allow for seamless system integration. Built-in volume control and a hardware remote control allows for centralized system control independent of the source, and the electronics can be remote located to reduce cabling. From Mono to 3D, there are uses for the KH 870 in many different system configurations.

IMPROVING LATERAL CONSISTENCY

The latest amplifier technology and acoustical components have been used to ensure the most accurate sound reproduction possible. Robust drivers, a rock-solid cabinet, and carefully designed ports guarantee a tight, articulate, and distortion-free low frequency reproduction, even at high replay levels. Using the sum output, Plane Wave Bass Array (PWBA) techniques acoustically improves lateral consistency in the listening area. The bass extends down to 18 Hz.

FLEXIBLE MOUNTING OPTIONS

The KH 870 subwoofer is designed to complement Neumann’s extensive range of monitors, and can be used on its own, or daisy-chained to make larger systems capable of higher SPL. THE OPTIMAL COMPLEMENT FOR STEREO APPLICATIONS

The KH 805 has a unique bypassable 2.1/0.1 Bass manager which enables it to be used in many different applications. There are four LFE routing modes to ensure maximum flexibility. Fourth order crossovers and adaptable acoustical controls allow for seamless system integration, and the bass management function can be remotely controlled.

Based on the excellent acoustical performance of the KH 810, the KH 805 is the optimal choice to be used in stereo applications, for example in combination with KH 80 DSP, KH 120 or KH 310.

DSP POWER FOR ALL

The compact KH 750 DSP is the ideal choice for smaller rooms and smaller studio monitors. It has a unique and flexible Bass Manager (2.0/0.1), analog and digital inputs, four routing modes and adaptable acoustical controls to be used in many different configurations.

In addition to its outstanding acoustic properties this DSP-based subwoofer offers functions for the Neumann monitors connected to its outputs regarding the interplay with the following tools:

Automatic Monitor Alignment – Automatic room correction of stereo systems using the Neumann MA 1 measurement microphone (software for Mac/PC)
Neumann.Control – Free iPad®-App for setup, operation, and room correction of stereo systems via guided and/or manual alignment

This also applies to all non DSP-based Neumann monitors connected (analog) to the KH 750 DSP, which enables them to make use of the subwoofer’s DSP power.

MORE ABOUT THE KH 750 DSP

The newly designed 10” long-throw driver has a strong linear working magnet system with ELFF technology (Extremely Linear Force Factor). As subwoofers are usually placed on the floor, a robust grille protects the driver from accidental damage. The ultra-compact cabinet is a closed design which brings the fastest possible transient response.

The two analog XLR inputs are balanced as are the two analog XLR outputs. The 192 kHz / 24-bit digital input can accept AES3 and S/P-DIF signals. There is a bypassable standby function and the switch-off time can be adjusted in the Neumann.Control iPad® app.

The KH 750 DSP can be used in music, broadcast, and post production studios for tracking, mixing, and mastering.

Please note: We do welcome the community of users implementing custom control solutions for KH monitors based on SSC. However we do not offer technical support on using the protocol and the customer support organization will not address issues with custom monitor control applications or side effects Neumann applications. Using the SSC protocol outside the Neumann applications is done at your own risk. Neumann does not warrant SSC functionality outside of the MA 1 – Automatic Monitor Alignment Application. Future firmware releases may implement a different control protocol than SSC.

THE GOLD STANDARD IN THE MIDFIELD RANGE

The KH 420 is designed for a working distance of 1.5 to 3 m (5’ to 9’). It handles this space effortlessly thanks to great power reserves and precisely concentrated dispersion. Even in diverse acoustical environments the KH 420 remains neutral and clear in every detail down to the subtlest nuances. No subtlety is lost; every sound element can be localized.

The KH 420 is a three-way tri-amplified monitor with thermally protected Class AB amplifiers (330 W and two times 140 W). Just like the drivers, its Mathematically Modeled Dispersion (MMD) waveguide is engineered for optimum precision. Sound distributed in a horizontally precise manner ensures flexibility in the listening position; the narrower vertical dispersion reduces the negative effects of nearby reflections, for example from a desk or mixing console. The dispersion of the KH 420 is deliberately designed to be narrower, to guarantee reference sound at longer working distances.

BEST WORKING ENVIRONMENT: CLOSE TO PROFESSIONAL EARS

The KH 420 is designed for midfield applications and as main monitor in project, music, broadcast and post-production studios for recording, mixing and mastering. And in a multi-channel system, it can also be freely combined with all other Neumann studio monitors.

PORTS AND HIGH DYNAMICS: NO LONGER A CONTRADICTION

With its tri-channel amplifiers the KH 420 also realizes sound pressures of up to 122.4 dB. And it thereby retains high-resolution and neutral representation across the entire frequency response. This also includes an exceptional bass response down to 26 Hz. Despite using ports, there is no “overhang” or audible resonance in the low frequency range and the transient response is precisely controlled at all times.

The computer modeled chassis is constructed of LRIM materials which eliminates standing wave resonances and suppresses intermodulation distortion, especially in the midrange.

For demanding treble, our own specially developed, powerful alloy fabric dome ensures distortion-free reproduction. The fabric dome captures the midrange with utmost precision. Its ultralight material and the powerful neodymium magnet enable a significantly better transient response with considerably less distortion than comparable midrange drivers.

DIGITAL INPUT AND DELAY OPTION

The Digital Input Module DIM 1 expands the loudspeaker electronics by a digital XLR input, a digital BNC input and a digital BNC output (192 kHz/24 Bit) for flexible digital signal links. With the delay function (adjustment range 0 – 400 ms) of the DIM 1, the audio signal can be delayed to ensure audio-visual synchronization (lip sync). In addition, the high resolution of the delays (0.1 ms) allows equalization of the propagation delays. The delay can be added to both inputs (digital and analog). The KH 420 can be retrofitted with a DIM 1.

With its specially designed midrange driver, the compact KH 310 is particularly suited for precise work with speech, vocals, guitars and other instruments that have a midrange emphasis. Its closed design enables a very fast transient response. The associated low harmonic distortion guarantees a neutral reference sound to meet the highest standards.

The KH 310 is a three-way tri-amplified monitor with thermally protected Class AB amplifiers (210 W and two times 90 W). Its Mathematically Modeled Dispersion (MMD) waveguide delivers sound waves into the room with superior accuracy. The drivers are modeled using Neumann’s in-house developed software, which reduces non-linear distortion in every situation. Sound distributed in a horizontally precise manner ensures flexibility in the listening position; the narrower vertical dispersion reduces the negative effects of nearby reflections, for example from a desk or mixing console. The precisely controlled dispersion characteristics optimize reproduction in different room configurations and the response is extremely adaptable through various acoustical control settings.

With its powerful switched-mode power supply and tri-channel amplifiers, the KH 310 realizes sound pressure of up to 116.3 dB and thereby retains a high-resolution and neutral representation across the entire frequency response. This provides sufficient energy for even the most demanding impulse dynamics with no distortion or losses. The bass goes down to an impressive 34 Hz.

The closed cabinet design means a lower group delay. This results in almost the entire frequency range being reproduced at the same time; the transient response is precisely controlled at all times.
